DURHAM, N.C. -- Crystal Mangum says she'll appeal a judge’s decision Wednesday to dismiss her complaint against Durham police and the district attorney.
- Crystal Mangum filed a lawsuit accusing the city of Durham and DPD of malicious prosecution in her 2013 murder conviction.
- Mangum previously accused a group of Duke Lacrosse players of rape in 2006 and charges dropped.
- Mangum is serving an 18-year sentence for the murder of her boyfriend.
Mangum claimed the departments acted maliciously during a 2013 case when she was found guilty of second degree murder of her then boyfriend Reginald Daye.
The judge not only dismissed the complaint but also ruled that Mangum cannot file new actions against DPD and the Durham district attorney without first getting court approval.
Mangum gained national attention after falsely accusing three Duke lacrosse players of rape in 2006.
She's serving an 18 year sentence for the second degree murder conviction.
