"Since I was young, I was interested in military service or police work. It feels awesome,” new CMPD officer Matt Tierney said. “It's something I've been working towards for a long time."
CMPD leaders say although they're all wearing the same uniform, it's important new officers reflect differences.

"We know that for a police department to be effective, we have to be legitimate, right, so in order for us to achieve that legitimacy, we think that it's important for our department to reflect the community that we serve," CMPD training and recruiting captain Dave Johnson said.

CMPD says they welcome anyone interested in applying to visit the police academy to speak with a recuiter. You can find more information on CMPD recruitment’s page.
