CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- City leaders are trying to make Charlotte more bike-friendly, and they're looking for your input on a new project called a cycle track.

  • A cycle track is being developed along 6th Street.
  • There is currently another track on 12th Street.
  • Developers are seeking thoughts on the plans Tuesday.

Many cyclists say it's a safe way to avoid traffic during your morning commute, or even just a way to leisurely enjoy all the city has to offer.

The City of Charlotte has developed many greenways in uptown Charlotte to make it more walkable and bikeable, and there is currently work being done for a two-way cycle track along 6th Street.

On a cycle track, there is a physical barrier between the bike lane and cars.

There is currently one cycle track in Charlotte, if you're a cyclist you may have seen it on 12th Street between Brevard and Caldwell near NoDa.

Tuesday, developers want to hear from you about their plans. They are holding a Rock the Ride Event where people can come by and give their ideas and also learn more about the 6th Street cycle track.

Here are the Tuesday events about the cycle track:

Gateway Village Promenade, Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Trade and Tryon streets in front of the Marriot Hotel, 10:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m.

The Vue, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

7th Street Public Market, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday night there's also an event for the whole family -- cycle to the Charlotte Knights game and also get a discount off a ticket. Cyclists and non-cyclists are encouraged to come out.
