CLEVELAND COUNTY, N.C. -- Jurors have found William McCullen guilty of first degree murder in the death of his girlfriend's 3-year-old, Jordyn Dumont, in 2016.
- William McCullen was found guilty in the death of 3-year-old Jordyn Dumont.
- The decision was unanmious.
- He was sentenced to life in prison.
The jurors' decision was unanimous. McCullen was sentenced to life in prison.
Last week, jurors went through tough evidence, including autopsy photos of the girl's body, which was found in the woods near her home in Bessemer City.
She was first reported missing by McCullen who called 911 after he said he couldn't find her after taking a nap. This set off a search including dozens of officials and community members for two days looking for Jordyn.
During the trial, the jury saw a taped interview with McCullen and detectives where he admitted to them he lost his temper and punched her two to three times in the stomach. A medical examiner told the jury that Jordyn bled to death.
The trial was moved from Gaston to Cleveland County because of the large amount of publicity around the case.
