Austin, Texas – Summer is here, which means you are going to want to cool off in the pool on these hot days, however Austin is currently in need of more lifeguards.
There are less than 400 lifeguards on the payroll to work this summer and the city needs about 750 to be considered fully staffed. Austin recently opened up its municipal pools May 26.
They operate on a staggered schedule of opening pools, so the next round of pool openings will happen this Friday. For the past few years, the aquatics division has increased the pay rate to encourage more people to apply.
The city of Austin requires all applicants to take a 40-hour certification class to become a lifeguard. To apply visit lifeguardaustin.com
