CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New census numbers released earlier this week show Charlotte is the 17th largest city in the country and remains one of the fastest growing cities.
- Charlotte is the third fastest growing city
- City gained 15,551 more people in 2017 (number includes births and movers)
- Fort Mill, South Carolina is also quickly growing
Other data shows the growth goes well beyond Charlotte city limits, and vice president Chuck Mcshane for business analytics & data says South Carolina might not be far behind.
"What's really interesting about it is in Fort Mill. That's the fastest growing suburb in the country as well," he said.
The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce says the Queen City had the third-fastest growth rate behind Seattle, Fort Worth and just ahead of Columbus and San Antonio.
