CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A mother and son are dead after a car crash in northeast Charlotte Friday morning.
Police say one person is charged in the crash.
- The crash involved four cars.
- Three people were also injured.
- The child killed, according to a police officer, might be five or younger.
The four-car crash was at the intersection of Eastway and Curtiswood Drive.
Police say the driver of a red car was coming down Eastway when she cut off a white van.
Two other vehicles were hit including a food truck. We spoke to the food truck company who says their driver will be OK.
One of the vehicles hit a power pole. Police also say three people were injured.
A police officer says the child might have been be five years old or younger.
The driver of the red car -- according to police -- was charged. At this point, we are not sure what the charge or charges are.
A neighbor who spoke with Spectrum News that saw the crash and said he thought he was hearing gunshots it was so loud.
"My daughter she was running up to the vehicles to see if she could help somebody because she knew somebody was hurt, but I told her to backup because all the vehicles were smoking and i didn't know if it going to blow up or what,” said Antoine Davis.
A power line was struck and it caused a block of homes to lose power.
