CONCORD, N.C. -- Jimmy Murphy, best known for his Christmas event that helps hundreds every year, was honored at his funeral Saturday.

Many friends and area leaders spoke of fond memories with the 88 year old.

"I really thought that I was put into his life to help him," stated friend Andy Ragan. "However, I don't think that was what it was about. I think he was put into my life to help me. He taught me all these lessons about selflessness and humility."

As Jimmy Murphy's Christmas Foundation prepares for its 2018 meal, the organization asks people to share their stories about the founder.
