SALISBURY, N.C. -- A Rowan County teacher is innovating the classroom by incorporating a community.
Isenberg Elementary School teacher Anthony Johnson says he never thought he would be a teacher. After dropping out of high school, he didn't think he would ever be in a school again.
Years later, while volunteering for a music program at Isenberg Elementary, he decided to make a change. He received his teaching degree and is now incorporating hands on learning through technology to keep kids invested in their education.
"In order to reach all of the kids, I needed to change the learning environment,” says Anthony Johnson. “And my classroom was not going to look like the same classroom that I was in. That’s why I created Johnsonville.”
Johnson is trying to raise money on Donors Choose to get technology to allow students to create interactive books with galleries, videos and 3D objects. If you would like to do so, you can find a link to his Donors Choose here.
