SALISBURY, N.C. -- With spring comes breeding season for household pets and because of a special animal case, the Rowan County shelter has dogs that need adopting.

After a resident called overwhelmed by his 70 dogs, the Rowan county animal shelter stepped in to give him relief.

Experts say it's easier than you may think for your dogs to start breeding, and the simplest solution is to get them fixed before it's too late.

“Everybody assumes well I can find home for a litter of puppies,” says Animal Services director Bob Pendergrass.  “Well if you find homes for all but one or two then you end up with one or two more then the next season it multiplies itself."

Pendergrass says the former owner is not facing any charges at this time because the dogs were not malnourished, and showed no signs of abuse.
