CUMBERLAND COUNTY -- Help is here for drivers in the Sandhills.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation expanded its popular State Farm Safety Patrol service to a large portion of I-95.
The patrols clear stalled vehicles that are slowing down traffic and posing a hazard on the highway. They can also assist stranded drivers.
"If they have a flat tire, we can change that flat tire," said James Flowers with NCDOT. "If they run out of gas, we have the ability to give them gas, even if they lock their keys in the car."
This service is free to the public. Drivers can dial *47 on their cell phone to summon a safety patrol truck.
