HICKORY, N.C. -- A small, shallow and weak earthquake rumbled near Hickory Monday morning. It probably went unnoticed by most people in the region.
It should be mentioned, that this is not uncommon for the area. We don't often have strong quakes.
The strongest quake we have recorded, was back in 1916. A 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook near Skyland in Buncomb County.
