CHARLOTTE -- The USO of North Carolina is helping military members cope with a frustrating situation at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The Marines, National Guardsmen and soldiers got stranded at the airport as they tried to report back to duty following the holidays during the midst of the winter weather pummeling the East Coast. Their flights were canceled when they got stranded.
This USO lounge, outfitted with dozens of TVs, comfortable recliner chairs, snacks, food and drinks, provided a nice respite for the military men and women, waiting for their travel arrangements to be changed.
One soldier headed to Fort Lee said he’s now more than two days late reporting back after the holidays, but he says despite the headache, he’s taking it all in stride.
The USO at the Charlotte airport announced they are extending their hours to be open around the clock so more military members can be accommodated and escape from the craziness of the main terminals and lounge areas.
