MOORE COUNTY, N.C. -- About five to six inches of snow fell in Moore County Wednesday evening, making it one of the hardest hit areas in central North Carolina from the storms.

The snow started falling around 3 p.m. Wednesday and really caused havoc on roadways especially because officials weren’t expecting any snow at all to hit there until the forecast changed at the last minute.

Two men were killed in Aberdeen when their truck fell went off the side of the road and landed upside down in a creek.

It happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Dowd Road.

Police say 57-year-old Michael Wilson and 73-year-old Jerry Wilson, both of Bear Creek, were killed.

A Moore County school bus also slid down a hill and was stranded for several hours but fortunately there were no injuries.

Officials said all the county’s wreckers worked to remove stranded vehicles.
