AUSTIN, Texas -- About 100,000 more donated diapers have arrived in Austin and are headed to Beaumont.
The Austin Diaper Bank received the generous donation and will distribute them as part of Harvey relief efforts.
“It is becoming evident that Hurricane Harvey relief is not going to be a weeklong effort. Some of these people are going to be displaced for a long period of time," said Kirsten Vonis of the Austin Diaper Bank.
"So while we appreciate the outpouring of support right now, this is going to be something that we have to sustain for weeks or months,” she said.
Baby2Baby, an organization that helps low-income parents with diapers and other necessities, provided the truckload.
Last week, the Austin Diaper Bank distributed more than 240,000 diapers, plus 70,000 wipes and diaper cream, to evacuees.
