CHARLOTTE -- Major changes are being proposed for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools boundaries.

Board members released their plan Tuesday night which would affect 75 of the district's 170 schools in a variety of neighborhoods.

In some cases, the actual boundary lines changed. For others, elementary and middle schools will feed into different high schools.

The board says the goal is to improve socio-economic diversity, and reduce overcrowding.

Superintendent Ann Clark is asking parents to look at the big picture before rushing to judgment.

"I also invite you to look at all of the changes at school ‘Y’ and not just focus on the fact that your child is going to school ‘Y,’" said Clark.

The full proposal is posted on the CMS website for parents to review.

In the next few weeks, CMS will hold a series of informational sessions.
