CATAWBA COUNTY -- One person is dead following a crash involving a school bus and an SUV in Catawba County on Friday.
It happened around 3:00 Friday afternoon on Bethany Church Road, just outside of Newton.
Deputies say the driver of the SUV was killed. Their name has not been released.
School officials say there were three students, a monitor and a driver on board the bus but they were not hurt.
Troopers confirmed others at the scene, possible passengers in the SUV were injured, but would not give further details.
No word on what led to the crash.
