The mayor of Troy says that the city is now working to keep its police Emergency Response Team, or ERT. This was the same team that was slated to be cut from the 2017 budget.
In a statement Tuesday, Mayor Patrick Madden's office said, "There is an ongoing conversation between the mayor and the Troy Police Department to maintain the capacity of ERT, within the difficult constraints of our limited 2017 budget."
The budget caused contention in the Troy City Council, but it was approved in December and has been implemented. Madden says as of right now, the ERT is still functioning.
