CHARLOTTE - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a killer.
Police found 52-year-old Thomas Beatty Friday afternoon lying in a yard shot on Morning Breeze Lane. That is off of Brookshire Boulevard.
He later died.
Police are still looking for the shooter.
Beatty was the seventh person killed in Charlotte so far this year.
Meanwhile, CMPD made an arrest in the shooting of a North Tryon Street store owner.
Massaquoi Kotay was shot Thursday inside his convenience store. He was a father of four.
Police say 20-year-old Desmond Black has been charged in the killing that investigators say started as a robbery.
"In that case, we had people talk to us and tell us who they thought was involved and it turned out they were correct, and we were able to make a quick arrest," said Deputy Chief Doug Gallant.
Police say arrests have been made in three of this year's homicides.
In all but one case, the victim and suspect knew each other.
