BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Leaders say Binghamton University's future will be innovative and collaborative.
In his annual State of the University address, President Harvey Stenger says this mindset will keep the school moving forward and increase enrollment.
Thursday he stressed the yet-to-be-built nursing and pharmacy schools.
He says those graduate programs will help reach his goal of 20,000 students at BU by 2020.
The pharmacy school is currently under construction in Johnson City.
Stenger already sees potential for more growth in the area.
"As with all great projects, you can see opportunities immediately for expansion," Stenger said. "For example, along Corliss Avenue you can see other properties that could be great locations for pharmaceutical companies, that could start up from the research of our own faculty that could actually manufacture and do research here in Johnson City."
The pharmacy school will open next fall and move to its own building the following year.
