STATE -- Getting through the DMV may have just gotten a little bit easier. New kiosks let customers renew their driver’s licenses and state-issued ID cards.
DMV workers say customers love the convenience of the option, but it unfortunately isn't available for everyone.
“A new customer coming to the state would not be able to use this. You have to be a pre-existing customer in order to use the service. So, someone who is coming in for the first time to be issued a license, or if you are changing your name and you have to present documents such as a marriage certificate, or a court document to change your name, you can't use this,” said Felecia Williams Short, a driver’s license examiner.
Keep in mind that you don't necessarily have to go to the DMV to renew your license.
Anything you can do at the kiosk you can also do at home online.
