CHARLOTTE- Fire officials say static electricity caused a gas station fire Friday morning.
It happened around 8 a.m. at the BP Gas Station on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road.
Officials say a landscaping crew was filling up a gas can when it ignited. The can spilled, causing the fire to spread.
The boot of a member of the landscaping crew was seen on fire, but no injuries were reported.
Gas station employees and fire crews responded quickly and doused the fire.
The damage is estimated to be $2,500.
