CHARLOTTE -- The Historic Mecklenburg Mill officially reopened as affordable housing on Wednesday in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte.
The project to restore the mill has been in the works for years.
One new tenant said she's thankful the project is now complete so she can live in her favorite area of Charlotte.
"These apartments are nowhere near a cheap quality apartment, but for them to cost a rate where I could afford it or for a mother with one child can afford it, I think that that is what makes these apartments wonderful," said Jennifer Lewis, a new tenant.
The apartment building has 48 units and is now named The Lofts at NoDa Mills.
