CHAPEL HILL—The UNC Tar Heels are sporting a fresh new look.

Monday night the university unveiled new uniforms for its athletic programs.

All 28 varsity programs will start wearing the uniforms this fall. While Carolina blue and white are still the central theme, all of the uniforms will now feature argyle, which clothing designer Alexander Julian says is a representation of what the school stands for.

"Carolina is the only school with anything like it, and for the same reason I put it on the basketball uniforms almost 25 years ago it's timeless and it's classy, and that's what our school is,” said Julian.

It took UNC leaders, alumni, Nike, and Julian 18 months to create the new look.
