CHARLOTTE -- Police are investigating a homicide that happened less than a mile from East Mecklenburg High School.
Officers found a man shot around 11 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Woods apartment complex on the 7100 hundred block of Wallace Road, off Independence Boulevard.
The mana was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he later died.
Crime Scene Search responded to the initial call but it took the help of nearly half a dozen other units, including the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Homicide Prosecution Team, a K-9 unit and the Vice and Gang Unit to completely canvass the area and question any possible witnesses.
This is an ongoing investigation, and as of right now, there is no information related to any suspects. Officers haven't released the name of the victim.
