1. Gunman in Texas Walmart mass shooting offered plea deal to avoid death penalty
El Paso District Attorney James Montoya announced on Tuesday that Patrick Crusius, the man who admitted to killing 23 people and injuring dozens more in a racially motivated shooting at a Walmart in 2019, has been offered a plea deal to avoid the death penalty.
Montoya’s public comments came after El Paso Matters reported on Monday that family members of the victims were informed that Crusius would no longer face the death penalty.

3. Measles cases hit 370 total in Texas and New Mexico. Kansas has an outbreak. Here's what to know
The measles outbreaks in West Texas and New Mexico have surpassed a combined 370 cases, and two unvaccinated people have died from measles-related causes.
Texas state health officials said Tuesday there were 18 new cases of measles since Friday, bringing the total to 327 across 15 counties — most in West Texas. Forty people have been hospitalized since the outbreak began. Lamb County was new to the list, with one case.
