JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — The task of getting needed medical supplies to the entire 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, which is made up of roughly 30,000 Marines and sailors, is not an easy one.

The job is done by medical logistics specialists, like Alanar Miguel.

The 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force are served by a medical supply unit

Alanar Miguel in the unit has always had a passion for volunteer work

The team is back to normal operations after shifting during the pandemic

Miguel is a sailor who has been in the Navy for three years. One of her true passions led her to enlist.

“I was always passionate about volunteering. Throughout high school, college, I was always a part of a volunteer association,” Miguel said.

Giving back to others is why being a part of a unit that distributes medical supplies means a lot to Miguel. During the past year, her unit has been responsible for supplying COVID-19 essentials, such as masks and hand sanitizer. Being able to see her work positively impact others has brought her joy.

“We stripped almost every block we have here in the warehouse. [We] provided to either civilian contractors that needed it or supporting the Naval hospital here on Camp Lejeune,” Miguel said.

Miguel and her team have shifted gears back to their normal operations. With units such as the 24th MEU currently deployed, her work, as well as the other Marines and sailors with 2nd Medical Logistics Battalion have a lot of work to do to ensure the continued health of every Marine and sailor.
