CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It’s not about plates, it’s about tastes.

A “cicchetti” is a Venitian snack or side dish. Small plates to share like Spanish tapas. Cicchetti is now the Uptown restaurant where people can try, share, and pair Italian flavors.

“It’s a shared experience between everybody,” Cicchetti general manager Trevor Wood said. “It’s meant to kind of go in the middle of the table, and you can grab a tooth pick and pick and go as you’re sipping on your cocktail or your glass of wine.”

Guests are meant to sit back, maybe buy a bottle of wine which Cicchetti sells retail, and order taste by taste instead of focusing on one plate.

“There’s a saying in Italy,” Wood said. “Food without wine is a corpse. Wine without food is a ghost. But put them together and you have the body and soul. And that’s what we're really going for here.”

Food to share, tastes you won’t want to give up.
