A new poll shows New Yorkers are struggling to keep up with rising food costs.

The results from the nonprofit group No Kid Hungry New York, dedicated to solving hunger and poverty in the U.S., show 53% of New Yorkers have taken on additional debt over the past year because of skyrocketing food costs.

Another 62% of New Yorkers say they’re opposed to federal cuts to critical food assistance programs like SNAP and WIC benefits. The poll also shows that rising debt due to food costs are disproportionately affecting Black and Hispanic New Yorkers.

Rachel Sabella, director of the New York branch of No Kid Hungry, joined “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss the findings.
