RALEIGH -- This season, the Carolina Ballet is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having performed 100 premiere ballets at home and around the world. Now, they're rounding out the season with two final productions, "Serenade" in April, followed by "Sleeping Beauty" in May.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down for an In Depth look at the 20th anniversary season with Carolina Ballet's Executive Director Michele Weathers and dancer and North Carolina native Miles Sollars-White. Sollars-White has a part in "Serenade," which was also a part of the company’s performances in its very first year. He will also play the evil “Raven” in the ballet's unique production of "Sleeping Beauty".
Weathers spoke about the excitement moving forward. Next season, the ballet will offer a number of special performances including "Swan Lake," "The Nutcracker" and the fan favorite "Dracula!" She also introduced their newest venture, the school of Carolina Ballet. The new dance school will offer professional training for students 6 and up of all skill levels, from experienced company dancers and ballet masters.
The school is located across from the Carolina Ballet headquarters on Atlantic Avenue in Raleigh. Registration for the ballet school is open and classes begin Sept. 10. Meanwhile, auditions for "The Nutcracker" are taking place two days earlier on Sept. 8.
If you would like to come and finish out the 2017-2018 season with the Carolina Ballet, "Serenade" will take the stage April 26-29 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. "Sleeping Beauty" will run at the same location May 17- 20. For time and ticket information, visit their website.
