Louisiana congressional representative Mike Johnson, the Republicans’ fourth candidate for House speaker since the ouster of Kevin McCarthy, could officially get the votes required to win the speakership Wednesday.

Meanwhile, North Carolina’s new voting maps are officially law after passing through the General Assembly. Congressional representative Wiley Nickel, one of at least three N.C. Democrats drawn out of congressional districts, joins us to discuss further how the new congressional map and the new House speaker are affecting our state’s members of Congress.

Mark Meadows, a former N.C. Congressional representative and chief of staff to then-President Donald Trump, has reportedly been granted immunity for his testimony in the special counsel investigation into alleged election subversion by the former president.

Former President Trump pleaded not guilty to charges connected to allegations of trying to overturn the results of the election.
