Britni McDonald is an Emmy-winning statewide evening anchor for Spectrum News North Carolina. She joined the team in July 2019.
A Massachusetts native and Olivet Nazarene University graduate, Britni has lived in several states across the country while following her journalism dreams. Britni has anchored and reported in Fort Myers, Florida; Richmond, Virginia; Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Casper, Wyoming.
Inspired by the unique ability of television news to share stories in a visual, engaging, timely, and urgent way, Britni is dedicated to giving people a voice each day she walks into the newsroom. She is the proud recipient of two Emmy awards and several state awards for her breaking news, photography and ongoing coverage of human trafficking.
Some of Britni’s most memorable assignments include interviewing celebrities like Rainn Wilson, Carson Daly, and Joel McHale. Other notable assignments include a NASA shuttle launch, the arrival of Air Force One for a presidential visit, Fidel Castro’s death, and Hurricane Irma, which earned her an Associated Press award. One of her favorite reporting experiences was being transformed into a zombie while covering Scarowinds, the Carolinas' largest Halloween event.
Today, Britni loves living in the middle of the beautiful North Carolina mountains and beaches. Outside the newsroom, Britni spends her time practicing yoga, hiking, indoor rock climbing, seeing musicals, and watching movies. In fact, she posts movie reviews regularly on Facebook.
