Hailing from upstate New York, it’s no surprise that Loretta Boniti has a deep appreciation for the North Carolina sunshine. The In Focus host describes Raleigh as perfect, with the nearby beautiful beaches and mountains offering a quick and relaxing escape. Warm days spent with her dog exploring Raleigh’s trails and greenways are a refreshing change of pace in comparison to New York’s famously cold weather. However, all of this sunshine certainly hasn’t changed her stance on college sports. As a graduate of Syracuse University, Loretta still supports the Orange above all else.
Since joining the Spectrum News team in 2009, Loretta has explored a multitude of topics. Taking a deep dive into the issues that matter most, Loretta introduces viewers to the many individuals and ideas associated with North Carolina’s policymaking climate. Unique to Loretta’s political coverage is her role as In Focus host, where she invites viewers to become active participants in North Carolina’s political community, providing meaningful knowledge on the policies affecting their day-to-day lives. Speaking with experts from across the state, policymakers driving change, and those who will be affected by these decisions, she tells the important stories that shape North Carolina’s political infrastructure.
When Loretta isn’t hosting an interview with one of North Carolina’s political powerhouses, she is often reading about interesting individuals instead. With a passion for reading, biographies in particular, Loretta loves to learn about other people and their lives. She also enjoys the theater and dance, as well as exploring North Carolina’s vibrant craft beer scene. On the weekends, when she’s not relaxing with a good book, you can find her trying one of the many new exciting breweries in the area.
