Evan Abramson joined Spectrum News 1 North Carolina as a sports anchor and reporter in July 2022. 

Abramson was born and raised in Florida and attended the University of Central Florida, where he graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Journalism.

Evan inherited his passion for storytelling from his maternal grandfather, who was a business and financial reporter at newspapers in New York City and an editor at an international news service. 

Before coming to Raleigh, Evan was a sports reporter in Amarillo, TX, where he covered high school teams and other sports, including a small business that gave people the opportunity to shoot targets from a fast-moving helicopter. 

Later, Evan moved to Big Ten Country, covering University of Illinois and other sports in the region. One of his favorite memories was reporting on Illinois' NCAA Tournament run in the 2021-22 season.

In Raleigh, Evan enjoys experiencing new foods and live music. When he isn't reporting, Evan likes to create his own recipes and attempts to play golf.
