ST. LOUIS — A day of clean up across the St. Louis area after thunderstorms packing strong winds blew through the region Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
As of noon, four thousands Ameren Missouri customers were without power. The outages stretch from north St. Louis County down to Farmington. There were more than 10,000 without power at one point.
South St. Louis County was a hard hit area. Several cemeteries along Lemay Ferry Road had huge trees fall during the storm.
A small group was out early cleaning up St. Trinity Cemetery in Lemay. There are downed trees and also no electricity.
One volunteer said it was his day off and he was surprised to get the call this morning since there was no damage at his home nearby.
A cemetery board member told Spectrum News they could use some helping hands to clean up the damage. The cemetery is affiliated with Peace Lutheran Church and they’ve put the word out on Facebook to help find volunteers.
Further south in Park Hills, Mo., there were several reports of tree damage. The Park Hills Parks & Recreation Department even closed three city parks due to damage.
Spectrum News also spotted several tree companies out clearing damage as well as Ameren crews working to restore power. You can check power outages here in Ameren’s Outage Map.
