With Veterans Day coming on Monday, Nov. 11, Mainers are getting ready with events and ceremonies.

In Augusta, the annual Veterans Day flag ceremony is schedule for Monday, Nov. 11 from 8-9 a.m. at the Togus VA Medical Center at 1 VA Center. The ceremony will take place outdoors in the flagpole commons outside of Building 200. For more information, click here.

In Bangor, the Cole Land and Transportation Museum is holding its annual Veterans Day service on Monday, Nov. 11 starting at 1 p.m. The event is free to the public, and will include a performance by the Bangor Band. Click here to learn more.

In Orono, the University of Maine is hosting its Military Appreciation football game at Alfond Stadium against Bryant on Saturday, Nov. 9 starting at 1 p.m. During the national anthem, a flyover is planned by the 101st Air Refueling Wing of the Maine Air National Guard. Fans will also get to see the Air National Guard ‘Touch a Truck’ and flight simulator displays. In addition, Bath Iron Works will present their Shipbuilder 1 Mobile Training Unit. Military personnel and veterans with proper identification are eligible for complimentary tickets for themselves and immediate family members. Several events are happening in Portland:

The American Legion is hosting a Veterans Day Parade on Monday, Nov. 11 that will assemble at Longfellow Square at 10 a.m. and proceed down Congress Street at 10:30, ending at 11 a.m. at City Hall with a ceremony and speeches to follow. 

Big Moose Harley Davidson is hosting a Veteran’s Day Breakfast and Sale on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. More information is available here.

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is offering $9 passes for military members and their families for the entire weekend, from Nov. 9 through Nov. 11. Click here to learn more.

In South Portland, the South Portland War Veterans Memorial Association is presenting a parade on Monday, Nov. 11. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Southern Maine Community College parking lot, running along Broadway to Mill Creek. 

And in Biddeford and Saco, the Heart of Biddeford is hosting its annual Biddeford-Saco Veterans Day Parade. The parade will start with an opening ceremony at 9:50 a.m. at Saco City Hall before proceeding down Main Street in Biddeford to Alfred Street and ending at Biddeford’s Veterans Memorial Park.
