The University of Hawaii at Manoa warns there will be traffic around campus on Saturday when the UH football team hosts New Mexico at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex for the final game of the 2024 season, according to a news release. The seating capacity for the complex is over 15,000.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Traffic is expected to increase in the afternoon in both directions along the H-1 Freeway, especially near the University Avenue off-ramps, and in the surrounding neighborhood streets, including University Avenue, Dole Street, and Waialae Avenue.
Besides football, UH is hosting a number of events this week, including the HHSAA State Football Open Division Championship on Nov. 29 and the American Savings Bank Rainbow Wahine Showdown women’s basketball tournament from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1. Check the UH Athletics website for parking information for these events.
On Saturday, UH staff along with special duty Honolulu Police Department officers, will be on surrounding roads to direct traffic. The University is also using parking technology to expedite entry into and exit from the event and will coordinate with the city to adjust traffic lights to help with traffic flow, according to the news release.
