In conjunction with the release of Moana 2, Disney is collaborating with National Geographic Pristine Seas and the Polynesian Voyaging Society to protect the world’s oceans.
At the center of the collaboration is a short film showcasing how the ocean connects, provides, and inspires us. Watch it here:
The video encourages everyone to get involved in working to help protect the ocean.
The collaboration supports Pristine Seas, which works with Indigenous and local communities, governments, and other partners to help protect vital places in the ocean. Since 2008, the organization has explored and researched underwater locales all over the world and helped to create 29 marine protected areas.
The collaboration with Polynesian Voyaging Society allows the organization to continue practicing traditional wayfinding, which is depicted in Moana and Moana 2. Since launching over 50 years ago, Hōkūleʻa has sailed nearly 300,000 miles, connecting Indigenous communities, ocean scientists, educators and students around the world.
