Maui Humane Society announced its 2025 calendar contest, which will feature animals and firefighters cuddling, playing and more.

The calendar photoshoots will include members of the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association and Hawaii Government Employees Association, according to a news release.

The nonprofit is inviting Maui pet owners to compete to have their pets included in the calendar. There are two ways to compete.

First, animal owners may take part in an online auction for the photoshoot spots. The top 25 bidders will have their pets join the photoshoots with Maui’s firefighters and Ocean Safety rescuers on June 17, 18 and 19. The auction has started and will end on Sunday at 11:50 p.m.

Next, people everywhere are invited to vote for the top 12 photos of animal and rescuer duos, and the winners will be included in the calendar. The voting period will take place in August.

Proceeds from the calendar, auction and voting contest will benefit the Maui Humane Society.

“The collective rescue efforts of Maui Humane Society’s staff and volunteers, along with the heroic actions of Maui’s firefighters and Ocean Safety rescuers, serves as a tribute to the unbreakable bond between animals and humans,” MHS Director of Development, Kathleen Hogarty, said in a statement. “Through this calendar fundraiser, we aim to highlight the bravery and resilience of our island, and showcase the importance of community solidarity during crises.”

Calendars will be available for purchase in October.
