HONOLULU — The Hawaii State Department of Health approved the fourth medical cannabis retail dispensary for Aloha Green Holdings, Inc. dba Aloha Green Apothecary, after it passed the final on-site inspection of its fourth retail dispensary, according to a news release.

“Aloha Green Apothecary’s newest location provides an additional option to patients in West Oahu,” said Program Manager Michele Nakata of the Office of Medical Cannabis Control and Regulation in the release.

There are now 23 retail dispensing locations throughout the state.

Statewide, 33,032 patients and 2,797 caregivers were registered for medical cannabis as of June 29, 2023. The primary condition for adult patients is severe pain. The primary condition for children under 18 years of age are seizures and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the DOH.

Registered patients and caregivers can purchase up to four ounces of medical cannabis within a 15-consecutive-day period and a maximum of eight ounces over a 30-consecutive-day period per the DOH. After purchase, the medical cannabis has to be in a sealed container not visible to the public.

It’s illegal to use or possess medical cannabis on federally owned property such as military installations and national parks.
