Latest update as of 1:30 p.m. Tuesday is the flash flood warning for Kauai has been canceled by the National Weather Service, however a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the island. Kuhio Hwy. near Hanalei Bridge remains closed, according to Kauai County.
The Flash Flood Warning for Kauai has been extended to 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Prior closings remain in effect: Kuhio Hwy. near Hanalei Bridge and Limahuli Gardens, Hanalei Elementary School, the HI5 Redemption Center in Kilauea, and Wailua Golf Course.
The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning for Kauai until 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
Kauai County’s Solid Waste Division has also announced the closure of the Hanalei refuse transfer station until 9:30 a.m. and the all-day closure of the HI5 Redemption Center in Kilauea. All other stations are operating normally, but closures could occur depending on weather conditions.
Kauai Island Utility reports a power outage affecting over 1,000 customers in Kilauea and over 2,500 customers throughout the county.
A flash flood warning issued for Kauai Monday night by the National Weather Service continues into Tuesday.
A flash flood warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads and low-lying areas. Kauai Emergency Management officials advised against all nonessential travel.
Kuhio Highway near Hanalei Bridge was closed due to flooding late Monday night and remains closed as of early Tuesday morning. With the highway closure, officials closed Hanalei Elementary School on Tuesday.
Kuhio Highway near Limahuli Gardens at the Manoa Stream crossing is also closed because of flooding.
Wailua Golf Course will be closed because of flooding on Tuesday.
In addition, Niihau, Kauai and Oahu are under a Flash Flood Watch through Tuesday afternoon.
