HILO, Hawaii — The Hawaii Department of Transportation alerts the public to an exercise scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 19 at Hilo Airport.
The triennial training will test the airport’s personnel response procedures and capabilities during a simulated disaster scenario. It will include a simulated air crash and manikins to portray victims. Emergency vehicles and personnel, including the Hawaii Fire Department, may be seen moving around the airport.
The exercise will be conducted on an alternate runway and there will be no impact on incoming or outgoing flights.
Electronic message boards will inform the public that it is only an exercise.
