The Queen’s Medical Center — West Oahu will host a drive-thru for patients to receive their COVID-19 and flu vaccine on Sunday. 

What You Need To Know

  • COVID-19 and flu vaccines will be obtainable for patients age 5 and older

  • Patients should bring their ID and insurance card

  • Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines and boosters will be available

  • The high-dose flu shot, which is recommended for patients 65 and older, will be available too

The drive-thru will be located outside of the medical facility’s Sullivan Care Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Patients are asked to bring their ID and insurance card. However, insurance is not required for either vaccine. 

COVID-19 and flu vaccines will only be obtainable for patients age 5 and older. 

Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots will be available. 

Just last week, the Food and Drug Administration authorized an updated COVID-19 booster shot, which targets the most common omicron variants, and these are only available for people who have already had the original vaccines. The Pfizer booster shot is for anyone 12 and older, while Moderna's are for anyone 18 and older — as long as it has been at least two months since their last vaccine or booster shot. Anyone who wishes to get a COVID-19 booster shot should bring their vaccine card to the drive-thru clinic. 

On Wednesday, Hawaii reported 1,215 new cases of COVID-19 within the last week. Eleven new deaths were reported, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,655.

The high-dose flu shot, which is recommended for patients 65 and older, will be available at Queen's West Oahu too. 

In Hawaii, flu season runs from October to April. The Center for Disease Control recommends that anyone 6 months and older get the flu vaccine every year. The flu can cause serious illness and even death.
