Rochester's hockey team is closer to the Calder Cup Championship than they have been in almost two decades.

The Amerks finished off the Toronto Marlies in a three-game sweep at Blue Cross Arena on Wednesday. Rochester scored an 8-4 victory.

It was the Amerks' sixth win in a row. The team is heading to the AHL conference finals for the first time in 19 years, since 2004.

That year George W. Bush was president, the Summer Olympics were held in Greece and Spider-Man 2 hit theaters.
