The New York State Police say everyone on board a school bus in Irondequoit is safe after they say it was possibly hit by a bullet on Monday.

East Irondequoit school officials say it happened just before 7:30 a.m. on Rt. 104, near Portland Avenue. They say two windows on the westbound bus were shattered and police told the district it's believed to be a projectile that caused it.

The bus was carrying 10 students to the Aquinas Institute, according to officials.

The investigation into the cause of the incident remains active and state police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 585-398-4100 or crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
