ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Crews battled intense flames early Monday morning when a fire broke out at a repair shop in the city of Rochester.

Officials say the call came in shortly before 5:30 a.m. on N. Clinton Avenue, just north of Norton Street.

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were shooting high into the air. The blaze lit up the neighborhood, and several explosions were reportedly heard.

At one point, crews were pulled back from the structure.

Officials say the fire appears to have orginated from cars parked next to the repair shop. It quickly spread to two buildings, one of which appears to be a total loss.

The fire was brought under control about an hour after it was called in. Crews at the scene say no one was hurt, and the cause is still under investigation.

The street, which was shut down while crews battled the fire, is busy during the morning commute. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
