The Monroe County Legislature has unanimously passed the county's 2025 budget.
County Executive Adam Bello signed off on the budget, which calls for $1.5 billion in spending, an increase of about 5% over last year's budget. Bello says it supports priorities in public safety, public health and wellness, as well as quality of life improvements.
Legislature President Yversha Roman says it prioritizes investments in public safety, economic development, county employees, public assistance and community infrastructure. It also sets the lowest property tax rate in the county's recorded history.
This is Bello's third consecutive budget proposal to receive unanimous support from the county legislature.
“The approved 2025 Monroe County Budget is a reflection of my administration’s priorities and underscores my commitment to providing essential services like public safety, public health, and quality of life improvements. We are making major new investments in a centralized arraignment part court, child care assistance, and in our fight against the overdose crisis impacting our community,” said Bello. “This responsive and responsible budget reduces our county tax rate to a historic low and will serve as a roadmap for a thriving and equitable future for Monroe County. Thank you to the Monroe County Legislature for their confidence and unanimously passing my 2025 County spending plan.”
Including this budget, the Bello administration says it has reduced the tax rate by 31% over the past five years.
