Police say they are investigating an apparent murder-suicide Sunday at a Rochester nursing center.

A 70-year-old man fatally shot a 94-year-old female family member at the Pearl Nursing Center on Portland Avenue Sunday morning, Rochester police said. 

Police said the man then fatally shot himself.

Detectives say nursing center staff immediately responded to the room and called 911. They also say this was an isolated incident and that no other residents were ever in danger.

According to police, the female resident had been at the facility for a few weeks.

Police have not yet released the identities of the victims while they work to notify family members.
