A new walk-in pharmacy is open in Rochester's 19th Ward.

University of Rochester Medical Center's Brooks Landing Pharmacy is now open on Genesee Street.

It's meant to serve a pharmacy desert created by the closing of a pharmacy on Thurston Road in 2022 and the recent announcement another pharmacy on West Main Street will be closing.

“My team has worked tirelessly to identify and support community partners who can help fill the critical need for a pharmacy in Southwest Rochester,” Mayor Malik Evans said in a statement. “I am grateful to the University of Rochester Medical Center and Highland Hospital for answering this call by opening the Highland Pharmacy at Brooks Landing, and I am proud of our continued efforts in City Hall to support investments to provide the people of Southwest Rochester with equitable access to lifesaving, health-preserving pharmacy services.”

Patients can walk in to pick up prescriptions, regardless of where they get health care, and it also offers free delivery to any city address.
