"What could have someone done so bad and so wrong, for you to murder them and shoot them that many times with their children in their car,” said Bowick. “Right by a church, broad daylight, one minute away from the police station. It's just utterly ridiculous."

Bowick says he knew the victim and her son, and wants to give the family love and support. He said he also feels this tragedy will have a lasting impact.

"Traumatized forever,” said Bowick. “The youngest probably won’t remember, but the eight year old will probably never forget. I just thank God that, it's an unfortunate situation, but I'm glad that none of the children got hurt."

Reverend Dwight Fowler is the pastor at the First Church of God, right next to where the homicide happened.

He believes people have to find other ways to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence.

"People need to return to God so that God can return to ministering to their needs and heal the troubling conditions of which this city and this country are presently the recipients of," Fowler explained.

Bowick says he'll always remember the victim fondly.

"I remember [her] as a loving and outgoing person,” Bowick said. “[She] liked to dress real nice, and stuff like that."

Authorities have yet to identify the victim.
